A variety of our societies have vacancies on their committees and now is the time to apply for these voluntary roles! This is known as the 'Nominations' stage of the Society By-elections.
Committee By-Elections Update
We are aware that there have been some technical errors when logging in. This has now been resolved, so please apply for committee positions as usual by logging in and clicking on the 'Elections' tab of the society's own page. The deadline to apply for committee positions is 4pm (GMT) Wednesday 21st October.
If you still have difficulty logging in to stand for a role, please email firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline and she will add you into the election manually. Due to this extension, we will also adjust the voting dates to start on Thursday 22nd October and end on Thursday 29th October.
What is a Committee Election?
A committee election is the process of society members voting to choose someone to be one of their leaders. By holding elections, society members are able to influence the decisions about how their society is run. To win an election, you would need to persuade the society members to vote for you - this is usually done by explaining what you would do for the society and why you would be suitable for role.
This whole process takes place online.
How to Apply
To apply for a society committee position you must be a member of that group first. All society memberships can be joined online here.
Once you are a member you will be able to apply for a committee position through the 'Elections' tab on a society's page. Here is a video which demonstrates this process in further detail.
The deadline to stand in these elections is the 11:59pm, Sunday 18th October. If you are successfully elected, you will hold your committee position to the end of the 2020/21 academic year.
