Simranvir Kaur leaves her position as Vice President Academic Experience at BCUSU.
In order to return to her studies and complete a specific requirement on her course, Simran ends her tenure a month before the rest of your Officer Team 2022/23.

Actively engaged in Welcome Week events by and promoting BCUSU activities, as well as coordinating cultural events with BCU's International Office

Collaborated with the Vice President Equity & Inclusion to secure a dedicated prayer room at City South campus

Advocated for student support with Birmingham City Council and West Midlands Police, highlighting the issues of safety concerns and work exploitation faced by international students

Hosted focus groups to gather views and insights from international students, aiming to enhance their university experience by addressing their difficulties and issues. Also organised focus groups for proposing new academic regulations

Addressed timetabling issues by conducting surveys among students and engaging in discussions with the Academic Registrar to implement long-term improvements to the system

Engaged with the Sign Language Society to raise awareness about language barriers and collaborated to enhance interpreter accessibility. Met with Centre for Academic Success to develop language barrier support for students

Discussed assignment deadline accessibility with Pro-Vice Chancellor Julie McLeod, who agreed to push deadlines to second week of term for tutor support

Part of the organising committee for the I AM BCU Awards, hosting the event to acknowle and celebrate the outstanding achievements of students at BCU

Presented at BCUSU's Student Members Meeting and provided comprehensive year updates on the achievements and progress made as an Officer

Joined BCUSU President to present Student Voice Report and BCUSU Annual Report at the Board of Governors

Collaborated with Research Coordinators and VP Student Voice to submit student report to Office for Students for BCU's Teaching Excellence Framework

Held meeting with Innovation Enterprise and Employability Director to discuss the strategies for improving employability for BCU students

Worked closely with BCUSU Advice Team to support the student enquiries, on issues like course withdrawal and tuition fees

Participated in the periodic review of the School of Health Sciences, representing the students and providing valuable recommendations for enhancing their strategic approach
