Student Voice Assistants (SVA’s)

As part of the work of the Students’ Union we use surveys to find out what students think and feel about a variety of different issues. We recruit a team of Student Voice Assistants to engage with our students and encourage them to complete the surveys.  This helps us gain a deeper understanding of their experiences whilst at Birmingham City University.  We use this feedback and insight in order to campaign for change.

Your role is all about engaging with students, encouraging them to complete these surveys, and helping us gain a deeper understanding of their experiences whilst at Birmingham City University. We are looking for adaptable and reliable individuals who are confident approaching other students, and self-motivated to improve their fellow students’ university experience. An ability to use social media effectively would be useful too.

Some general admin tasks may also be required as part of the role.  Training will be provided to ensure you have an understanding of the role, and there will be ongoing support to ensure you have the skills to perform the role effectively.

Your role will include working within the following locations: Millennium Point, Parkside, Curzon, City South, Vittoria Street, Margaret Street, and Conservatoire.

Scrutiny Panel

Do you want to find out more about the inner workings of your Students’ Union?

Are you interested in holding your elected Executive Officer team to account and can you remain impartial whilst doing it?  If so, this is the perfect role for you - it fits around your studies and looks great on your CV, too.

The successful applicants will sit on a team who scrutinise the work of our Executive Officer team throughout the year. You’ll hold them accountable for their work around their manifesto promises, policy and around their specialities (for example, Academic Experience or Equity and Inclusion).

You will start this position in October 2022.  As part of BCUSU’s commitment to creating an inclusive community, we are looking to recruit from all faculties and at all levels of study.
