Thank you for your interest in the role of Skill Swap Web Designer.

Skill Swap is a cross-collaborative website that permits current BCU students to swap their skills in order to complete assignments and projects. The online platform aims to encourage creative students to build their portfolio in terms of collaborations and provide students in need of niche skills for projects to be able to do so easily and in a style they need/ prefer. The successful candidate will be amending functions highlighted by students that needed to improve. The successful candidate will be employed for 30 hours for the required amendments to be reached, however, this may be increased if need be.

The candidate’s specific duties will be

  • Website design and development of the cross-collaborative platform;
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions to enhance the website; and
  • Support the cross-collaborative online presence.

The specific amendments that are needed to complete the website are:

In order to progress to the interview stages, the candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of using HTML/CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, PHP. Experience with the following is advantageous although not required – WordPress, MySQL.

  1. Create an appreciation function (such as a Facebook like but ‘appreciation’);
  2. Ensure the website is mobile responsive;
  3. Create a function where a notification is sent to all students that are ‘tagged’ in the specialisation of the job advertisement on the ‘noticeboard’ (in the form of an email);
  4. Create a place where FAQ’s and instructions on how the website can be operated by its users;
  5. An interface that is much easier to function; and
  6. A way in which students’ can keep their work on the online platform after they’ve graduated - Alumini membership.
