At BCUSU LGBTQ+ Society, we host socials, meetings and events for all LGBTQ+ students and allies at BCU.
We provide a safe space to meet other people, raise awareness of LGBTQ+ rights and campaign on issues affecting us. If there is something affecting your time at University we want to know!
We meet every Wednesday 5-7pm in Curzon. Check out our events listings for rooms and what we have planned. We have an active Discord server for our members, to join just sign up as a member and get in touch via email lgbtq@bcusu.com or via Instagram (BCUSU_LGBTQ) with confirmation of your membership.
Each year we take part in the annual Birmingham Pride, one of the UK's largest 2-day Pride festivals. Birmingham Pride 2023 is to take place on the 27th & 28th of May and you can bet we'll be there! More information coming soon...
Every February we work with the university and Students' Union to plan a month of fantastic and informative events to mark LGBT+ History Month. In 2023 we took part in the Students' Union's Queer Icons social media campaign and even took a trip to National Student Pride in London! We hold events across the year so check out the What's On page for more information!
Our Society is a Protected Society, which means we never close down, are free to join and are funded by your Students' Union for our events and activities.
This is because we represent a key demographic of Birmingham City University, and are recognised by the National Union of Students as part of their Liberation Campaign.
This society is holding online elections to choose their committee for the new academic year. Any paid member can apply for a committee position that interests them and all paid members will also be able to vote for their preferred candidates when polling opens.
