At BCUSU LGBTQ+ Society, we host socials, meetings and events for all LGBTQ+ students and allies at BCU.
We provide a safe space to meet other people, raise awareness of LGBTQ+ rights and campaign on issues affecting us. If there is something affecting your time at University - we want to know!
We meet every Wednesday 5-7pm in Curzon. We are hoping to restart our meeting September 27th. Check out our events listings for rooms and what we have planned. We have an active Discord server for our members, to join just sign up as a member and get in touch via email lgbtq@bcusu.com or via Instagram (BCUSU_LGBTQ) with confirmation of your membership.
Meet the Committee
Each year we take part in the annual Birmingham Pride, one of the UK's largest 2-day Pride festivals. Birmingham Pride 2023 is to take place on the 25th & 26th of May 2024 and you can bet we'll be there! More information coming soon...
Every February, we work with the university and Students' Union to plan a month of fantastic and informative events to mark LGBT+ History Month. In 2023, we took part in the Students' Union's Queer Icons social media campaign and even took a trip to National Student Pride in London! We hold events across the year so check out the What's On page for more information - keep your eyes peeled for 2024!
Our Society is a Liberation Society, which means we never close down, are free to join and are funded by your Students' Union for our events and activities.
This is because we represent a key demographic of Birmingham City University, and are recognised by the National Union of Students as part of their Liberation Campaign.
