About Disabled Students

The Disabled Students' Society host events and activities that reach out to students with a disability. We provide a space for peer support and a relaxing environment to make friends.

This group is provided as a safe space to talk about the struggles our members face while at university and get the encouragement and empathy they need.

We exist because it's hard being a student - and even harder being a disabled student. Each year we will create a group students can rely on to advocate for positive change to fulfil our academic needs.

We meet with BCUSU's Vice President Equity and Inclusion and the University's Equality Diversity and Inclusion Manager to share our thoughts on problems with facilities on campus like faulty elevators.

We are a Liberation Society.

BCUSU's Liberation Societies are student groups who represent either an NUS-defined liberation characteristic, or something which aligns to the values of the Union.

These groups are free to join and are funded by your Students' Union for their events and activities. To see the full range of Liberation Socieites, click here.
