The good news!

The Government has announced an additional £15 million for university hardship funds and BCU is set to receive £290,000. We'll be working with the university to help decide how this additional money should be spent. In the meantime, click below to check out details of the current financial support on offer at BCU....

The bad news!

The Government has also announced that maintenance loans will only increase by 2.8% in 2023/24. Recent calculations showed that students will be up to £1,500 worse off than if loans had increased with inflation.

There’s still so much to do to make sure students are protected in the Cost of Living Crisis, and both BCUSU and NUS are lobbying a full package of support, including tying maintenance support with inflation, a rent freeze and cheaper travel.

Please use this tool to email your MP asking them to support students.
