As you well know, September isn't far away. Meaning, it's that time of the year where a lot of club promoters are looking to sell 'Freshers' tickets to our students...
Often they do this by creating 'Freshers 2020' Facebook groups, event pages and getting you to join WhatsApp groups. They then use these groups to promote their events and make sales.
Don't get scammed
Your Students' Union would like to remind you that from Government guidance, it is unclear whether nightclub venues will be able to open in September (or soon after). Therefore, you could be paying for an event that might not happen. Often these events are made non-refundable so you may lose money.
You could lost money!
To avoid being scammed or paying for events that might not happen, we recommend not purchasing any Freshers Wristbands online and being cautious of WhatsApp chats that you join. If they tell you that their event is 'selling out', don't worry!
Feel pressured? Report it.
If you feel like you are being pressured to purchase tickets or wristbands online, report the page and leave the group where possible.
