Everything you need to know about standing for a Protected Society, from nominating yourself to writing a manifesto and more.
Protected Societies each represent a key demographic of BCU. They are entirely funded by your Students' Union to host events and activities to support their demographic, and they are regarded as the central source of representation within the Union.
This year, Protected Societies have launched a host of initiatives: from planting over 200 trees at City South, to hosting the very first Trans Awareness Week on campus! Any student who is a full member of a Protected Society can stand to lead one.
Protected Societies are as follows:
Parents & Carers
People of Colour
At the session, your Vice President for Equity and Inclusion Zoe Baira will be joined by Protected Society Coordinator Harry Jones to explain the process: from writing a manifesto, to applying via the website, and how to get votes!
Just turn up.
