Providing you with the University Experience beyond the Lecture Hall
My Top 3 Goals
-
To ensure student groups are inclusive to the needs of all students, by making sure those involved in societies can access the training, advice and resources that they need.
-
To create opportunities for committee members from different societies to network, socialise and support each other.
-
To build awareness of the exciting volunteering opportunities that are available through the SU, and their value in gaining employment.
My Experience!
-
I’ve experienced how valuable societies are to the university experience, both as a member and on committee.
-
Being secretary for BCU Christian Union during lockdown has shown me how important student groups are in creating friendships and for connecting with students with different skills and backgrounds. Within this role, I have always advocated for making events inclusive to everyone!
-
I took part in the society leader’s panel for the open day, championing societies. This allowed me to meet committee members from different societies for the first time - something I want to build on!
-
As a previous commuter student and (almost) Brummie, I have first-hand experience of the challenges different communities can face when engaging with student groups and the SU.
-
I’ve been a volunteer whilst at uni and know the benefits for gaining employability skills, but also the difficulties it can bring - especially when balancing time!
Why should you vote for me?
I want to make societies, student groups and sports teams places that represent you. BCU is home to thousands of students, with different passions, cultures and academic interests and this makes these groups places of diversity. I want to support you in celebrating these differences, making societies a place where you can grow, make friends, and gain valuable life & employability skills for your future. To do this, I will make sure training and guidance for group leaders is available on the issues that different groups and communities face, that communication between myself and students allows you to raise any worries or ideas, and that a platform is grown which allows societies, student groups and sports teams to raise their profile and be known to all students regardless of course or campus.
