My Manifesto
To develop initiatives and activities that will promote integration and diversity at BCU.
A big struggle for a huge number of students is not feeling part of the university community. This can negatively affect their overall university experience. I will provide opportunities for students to socialise, and this will help improve interactions between students from different backgrounds.
Since my first year at BCU I have actively led initiatives that tackled integration issues, I believe working alongside the team at BCUSU will further improve my chance of success in achieving these objectives as your Vice President Opportunity & Communities.
My Experience:
- I am currently the School Rep of BLSS: In representing the Business School students, I was able to tackle diversity by developing an initiative called ‘Intersocial’ which successfully created opportunities for Home & International students to socialise and improve integration.
- Over 4 years’ experience in organising student-related events such as yearly Fresher’s Week events and recently, online student engagement events on Instagram, Clubhouse and Zoom.
- Student Academic Leader and the Course Rep at BLSS: In these roles, I represented my fellow students and made sure their feedbacks were heard and resolved at BCU. I successfully resolved students’ issues ranging from clashing assessments deadlines to helping students that were struggling because of being new to BCU and Birmingham city.
- University Ambassador: I represented and positively marketed BCU to potential new students and parents.
- Vice President African Student Society: I was able to assist the society to deliver integration activities for African students at BCU.
