TOP 3 GOALS

Hi! I'm Sam and i'm running for Vice President of Student Voice, I am a Second year Computer Games Tech Student.

Over the last year I have been a school rep in CEBE and have found a lot of flaws in the current system. Slow responses to important issues, lack of communication between the University and the SU. These ruin the student experience, I plan to speed up these processes and create a better faster system for students to be heard.

That's my Main aim, below are my 3 Goals to achieve during my Vice Presidency:-

• Make a new way to Communicate with the SU to get your voice heard

• Improve the Mental Health facilities and create a better awareness

• Create better communication between the University and the SU to streamline your Education Experience

These are my 3 main goals but I imagine the year ahead if elected more like a roadmap, I plan to constantly listen to the needs and voices of the student body as a whole and react and change to what's needed at the time. The plan over the year would be to:-

• Bring a wide awareness to new students to the current facilities at the SU.

• Improve visibility and access to facilities that may seem lacking currently.

• Improve the School Rep system to be quicker and more effective with the schools they represent.

• Keep the conversation talking about remote learning; how it can be used to help students with difficulty attending and with disabilities

• Make sure the Online content is still upkept after covid and sessions are recorded

• Make the SU the one stop shop for all Student needs.

MY EXPERIENCE

My Previous experiences as a School Rep, a manager and the most important ... a parent! These make me want to create a better future for current and incoming students, I will give all my time as a Vice President to making effective and coherent change in the SU.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME

I’m asking for your vote to make a change, if anything over this last year has shown us is that current systems don’t work in a modern and rapidly changing university structure. The SU hasn’t changed quick enough to deal with the new problems of remote learning and the wider issues caused by the pandemic.

After talking to a variety of first year students I have noticed that a lot of them don’t know about the services and the help the SU can provide. This needs to be ratified and changed immediately so all students know what help is there for them and how to access what they need when they need it.

I want to create a totally inclusive situation with all students, One that makes students Proud to be at BCU!
