Leadership is an action, not a position!
My Top Goals
- Creating career opportunities out of clubs and societies
- Increase student engagement by creating a forum through Moodle to give clubs and societies fayre that take place in halls of residence.
- Create greater opportunities for students who wants to participate in sports by scheduling necessary trainings.
- Create online forum for student input.
- More club nights, more festivals making BCU a fun place to be
- Increase the engagement of members in the University with union events and to encourage as many students as possible to join in and get involved with the union.
- Provide support for International and home Student on communication and other relevant support through Union.
- Promotion on environmentally friendly and Covid-19 free initiatives
- Reduction of number of members required to start a society from 6 to 3-5 to allow more niche interests to be able to start their own society.
- Reducing quoracy required for committee elections in clubs. Societies who find themselves unable to increase member engagement but need to elect committee members would find it beneficial to have to meet a lower requirement of members present at the meeting.
- Enforcement of our zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment – University wide complaint system
My Experience
Hello! I am Kethanjali Sankar, current Master of science student and former International Badminton Player. I am in my 2nd semester of studying International Business and Management. I have been involved in the union since my undergraduate course at Birmingham City University and continues my journey in MSC. From there I have made myself familiar with the procedures behind getting things done through the union, aided by the fact I have also participated and helped set up a few events. Events like the charities I hosted since 2018 up to the last one on December 2020. Moreover, recently I have been elected as a primary school Governor. This involves intersociety collaboration and experience, so I am an easy-going person working well with others.
Why You Should Vote for Me
I think I am suitable for the role of Vice President Opportunities & Community because I am dedicated and passionate about my role and already familiar with much of the Union staff and procedures. I would create a welcoming environment so that students would feel comfortable coming to me with any issues or questions they might have. I feel I have a decent understanding of my job role which entails well with my ability. Moreover, I have been working as a volunteer Governor which have accumulated skills and experience such as decision making, event planning, risk managing and working under pressure.
Your union should be the place for you know you are going to get the best value, opportunity and representation. I will ensure that BCUSU gives you an extraordinary student experience.
Thank You!
