My Top Goals

I have many ideas if I am elected Vice President Equity and Inclusion but the main ones are:

  1. To make sure the Disability society is active and effective, so all disability students have a connecting circle and to feel a part of the university.
  2. To promote the University’s wellbeing and mental health services and provide students with a signposting system so that everyone knows what they can access.
  3. To run focus groups to ask students the things they would like to happen to ensure their mental health and wellbeing are being fully supported.

Experience:

Before I started university, I have always had a passion to help students in the best possible way to engage and reach their full potential whether at school, college. During my first year of university I really struggled to find out all the relevant information such as accessing the wellbeing service which I needed to access in order to succeed on my course. This has given me the motivation to become active in the Birmingham City University Student Union.

I have been working with the Student Union as a Student Trustee for this past academic year (June 2020-present), where I act as a voice for all fellow students in meetings with the Student Union and University management. As trustees we are consulted by the University on a number of issues including how covid 19 has impacted on student life.

Why people should vote for me:

I am a student with disabilities and am also the Participation and Inclusion Officer for the Disability Society. I want to make sure every student who attends Birmingham City University has a good experience whilst studying here. I want to ensure that each student has their voices heard and want to address any issues or concerns so that all students feel happy and safe while studying at the university. I know from experience that it is very frustrating to feel that I haven’t got a voice. I want to run for Vice President Equity and Inclusion as I want to make things less stressful for new and current students.
