Pravjoth’s Top Goals as President
- To encourage entrepreneurship across campus and making sure there is an easier way to get support when starting a business during university.
- To be able to support people with disabilities and medical conditions by prioritizing their mental health and wellbeing.
- To improve productivity for students to be able to get the most of their academic studies and regularly checking with the students of any issues they are facing during their time at BCU.
Hi everyone, my name is Prav! I am a second-year Business Management, and I am running to be your next President of BCUSU in the academic year 2021/2022.
Over the years at BCU, I have noticed that disability awareness has not been spoken up about and as a member of the disability community, I want to be able to speak out for people with disabilities and spread awareness about topics that relates to you. This is one reason that I am running as President and bringing change to a community that is often underestimated.
Entrepreneurship was also another area of focus as many students are now becoming entrepreneurs and being their own boss, and so by providing a place which is easily accessible to help students start their own business and working with the SteamHouse Incubator to encourage entrepreneur across campus, no matter the degree you are doing!
Productivity is shown to be one of the most challenging aspects of being able to complete any type of work, and there can be many factors to this such as the impact of COVID 19 or that the teaching material may not be easily accessible, however mental wellbeing while completing academic study is the main reason why there might not be enough motivation to complete tasks, and as President, I want to ensure to the students that they are being supported. By working with the Centre of Academic Success, and personal tutors, my aim to support students during difficult times in their studies.
Previous Experience
- I am currently a Course Rep for Business Management, hearing from students and seeing what things they like about their degree and improvements that the course could do to improve the learning experience.
- I am the President of Enactus BCU, which is a society dedicated to using entrepreneurial action to develop projects around the UN Sustainable Development Goals and impacting the wider community. In my role as the President, I manage the committee team and liaise with Enactus UK as well as having connections with different businesses to help develop our projects and creating impact.
- As a Student Ambassador, I have experience in understanding the university and talking to people about BCU as well
- I have been involved in the BCUSU Trustee Board as a Student Trustee, where I hear about what the SU is currently doing to improve the student experience in the university.
