Let’s create impact and celebrate diversity!
Why do you want to run for this position?
I have always been taught to stand up high and be strong for the people around me. have seen the impact the Student Union has made within the last couple of years and the sense of belonging is needed more than ever now.
Running to be your Vice President Equity and Inclusion means that I would put the students first. As a disabled person of colour women, I represent a body of students who believe that inclusivity means a lot now than ever!
What would your priorities be if you were elected?
1. Looking after your mental health - being President of the Mental Health Society and part of the University Mental Health Charter means that I have seen how mental health is the main priority for students and so I want to continue this in the role.
2. Sense of belonging - BCU is a diverse university with people from different backgrounds and so one of my priorities is to ensure that students feel like they are part of a community that makes them feel safe and valued by highlighting various cultures and communities throughout the year.
3. Social impact in the community - working as President of Enactus BCU for 3 years and helping those in need has been a main priority and I want to continue that within the Student Union where students can see the social impact they have made.
What skills and experience do you have that would make you a good Officer?
Over the last 4 years, I have obtained many opportunities and achievements that BCU has provided me. I am a Student Trustee for BCUSU for 3 years. I am also a School Rep of the Business School which allows me to hear student voices. I worked on a placement year in the Business School as the Business Development Assistant where I worked with small businesses in Birmingham.
Choose a person who thinks about the student first and who you believe is the right person to represent you and the students!
