Society of the Year
Celebrates a Society who have delivered a wide range of sustainable and successful events for their members; made a positive contribution to the wider community, Students’ Union, and other Societies; and shown a consistent increase in membership and engagement with students.
Best New Society
Celebrates a Society established this Academic Year who have successfully engaged with new members, planned, and hosted relevant events and activities for their members, and developed a strong relationship with the Students’ Union.
Most Improved Society
Celebrates a Society who have seen a marked improvement from previous years; with increased membership numbers, regular events and collaborative initiatives, and a commitment to building a solid grounding for future years.
Committee Member of the Year
Celebrates a Society committee member who has shown dedication to their members and the success of their group throughout the year, have a positive attitude and are open to new ideas and collaboration, and work to build a strong sense of community by acting as a role model and positive influence to their members.
Society Member of the Year
Celebrates a member of a Society who has gone above and beyond during the last Academic Year. They may have shown strong leadership skills when times were hard, developed as a person and grown in confidence, or perhaps their commitment to making the society the best it can possibly be deserves recognition.
Society Event of the Year
Celebrates a unique and successful event run by a Society for their members or wider student population. The Society will have worked closely with their committee and the Students’ Union, and perhaps collaborated with other Societies or external partners, to host an event that had a positive impact on students.
Course Rep of the Year
Celebrates a Course Rep from each Faculty who has shown dedication to ensuring the voices of their classmates are raised through good communication with University and Students’ Union staff, and coordinating effectively with their School Rep.

Celebrates a School Rep from each Faculty who has demonstrated a strong commitment to resolving the issues facing students in their School, forging robust working relationships with Students’ Union and University staff, and delivering quality feedback to improve teaching across the University.

Each Student Group gets one vote per award category, your committee should discuss this with your members. Once your Student Group has decided who it will collectively vote for in each category, your President should send these to Tom from the Activities and Represenation Team.
