Most questions you might have about your day-to-day role as a Rep will be covered in your training. You can view the training slides in the relevant section of the Rep Hub. There are also specific sections for key areas of your role, like collecting feedback and meetings, so make sure you check to see if your question is answered there too!

Our main offices are on the 1 floor of the Curzon Building, where you can speak to BCUSU Reception, the Officers, or the Activities and Representation Team.

If you’re based at City South, you can find BCUSU Reception on the ground floor of the Seacole building, down the IT corridor between the Campus Shop and Social Kitchen.

If you’re based at other Campuses, you’ll see us popping in from time to time – keep an eye on bcusu.com and communication from the staff at your Campus about when we’re stopping by.

A list of all the Lead Reps is available on Find My Rep, along with their contact information.

If you want to stand down, please contact studentreps@bcu.ac.uk or voice@bcu.ac.uk.
We will want to have a quick chat with you to find out why you want to stand down.

If it’s a problem with how staff are treating you, or with how the Representation System is run, we’ll want to know so we can make improvements. If it’s because you’re struggling to balance the responsibilities with your work and study commitments, we’ll want to make sure you’re getting the support you need.

After that, if you still want to stand down, we’ll handle the rest from there and remove you from lists and work with the staff in your College to appoint a new Rep.

If you attended an in-person training session, you will have received a pin and lanyard there. If you attended a session online, we will have asked you to fill in a quick form telling us where is best for you to collect a pin and lanyard (either an SU Reception desk, or from a member of staff at your Campus)

If you need a replacement please email studentreps@bcu.ac.uk and we can arrange one for you.

Check in the meetings guide to see who the organiser of your meeting is, and contact them.

If you're still having trouble, chat to your Lead Rep or studentreps@bcu.ac.uk.

It ultimately depends on what the issue is, your best course of action is to raise it with your Lead Rep or with VP Student Voice who can provide you with some advice on where to go.

We hold an annual awards ceremony and party for Reps and Societies, we ask students to nominate and vote for their favourite Course and Lead Rep, as well as an award for a Rep from each Faculty as chosen by your Associate Dean.

The University and Students' Union run an awards night called the IAMBCU Awards, that also celebrate Reps in each Faculty.

We encourage you to recognise each other by using Praise in the Student Rep Community group on Teams! It’s really easy, check out the link in the pinned post in the Rep Chat Room or look for ‘Praise’ in the apps. If another Rep has really helped you out, or you just think they’re doing a great job, let them know!

At the end of each Academic Year, you’ll also receive a certificate commemorating the year you spent as a Rep.
