Let's help the University raise money for Comic Relief! It's a great way to keep fit too!

Birmingham City University plans to have the whole city bouncing on Friday 24 March with ‘The Big Birmingham Bounce’ for Comic Relief taking place at its City Centre Campus.

The Red Nose Day event welcomes everyone to participate in an all-day bounce-fest on mini trampolines, led by fitness enthusiasts Boogie Bounce.

From 9am until 5pm outside the University’s Parkside Building, staff, students and members of the public are invited to hop on to one of the mini trampolines and join the bouncing.

Lenny Henry, Chancellor of Birmingham City University and Comic Relief co-founder, said:

“I hope you will all be supporting Comic Relief this Red Nose Day and helping us to make a huge difference to the lives of people in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest communities.

“I’m really pleased that Birmingham City University – where I’m the Chancellor – is putting on The Big Birmingham Bounce.

“It’s a fantastic way to raise awareness about our great cause and work up a bit of a sweat at the same time.

“I encourage you to head down to Birmingham City University’s City Centre Campus this Red Nose Day and get bouncing!”

Visitors to The Big Birmingham Bounce can look out for cast members from the UK touring production of ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’, who’ll be stopping by throughout the day.

Birmingham City University students Zoe Hedge and Ebony Wilson, the music duo otherwise known as Capital B, will also make an appearance since stepping off ITV’s ‘The Voice UK’ stage.

“We’re super excited to be back in Birmingham and helping to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause”, said Zoe.

Comic Relief is a UK charity which aims to create a just world, free from poverty - where everyone is safe, healthy, educated and empowered. Since 1985, Comic Relief has raised over £1 billion to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world.

Those donating £5 or more at The Big Birmingham Bounce will be entered into a raffle draw, with prizes including health treatments and a personal training session, donated by Edgbaston businesses Highfield Beauty and Sana Vita Health.

Free red nose accessories will be provided to the first 100 people to take part in the event and visitors are encouraged to share their photos on the day using #BrumBounce.
