We’re looking for an experienced and confident Finance Supervisor to join our Finance Team at BCUSU.

This is a great opportunity for a Finance Supervisor to join our diverse organisation and play a key role in developing our Finance Apprentices while ensuring accuracy for our financial procedures. This could also be a great vacancy for someone looking to step into a supervisor role in the finance industry.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the effective day-to-day operation of the finance function, ensuring that financial transactions and operational workflows are completed accurately, on time and in line with organisational procedures and controls
  • Coordinate and quality-assure preparatory financial information to support month-end, year-end and audit processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy and readiness under the direction and sign-off of the Finance & People Manager
  • Provide first-line supervision, mentoring and development for finance apprentice(s) and assistant(s), while supporting continuous improvement of finance processes, systems and ways of working

Who we're looking for...

The successful candidate will have:

  • Accounting qualification (e.g. AAT Level 3 or above) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Good general education, including GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English & Maths
  • Minimum 1 year experience supervising or coordinating the work of others within a finance or transactional environment
  • Proven ability to use computerised financial systems (e.g. Sage) to process, review and oversee financial transactions
  • Good knowledge of accounting practises and accounts administration
  • Experience reviewing financial transactions, reconciliations or supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness
  • High level of IT literacy, including Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Highly organised, with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting non-finance colleagues to understand and follow financial procedures and controls

 

Hours

Full time, 35 hours per week.

 

Salary

£29,505 - £32,065 (Grade C)
