What makes a good idea?

Idea Appropriate (yes/no) Reason
Changes to the process for applying for the Financial Assistance Fund ✔️ Would require working with the relevant team to streamline a University process. Or could involve implementing a new process which may be a long-term project that required investment and resources
More breaks in engineering lab sessions This is a course specific idea, which would be best resolved by contacting your Course Rep, who would then add it to the Feedback Hub
Request to have a counsellor with specific remits in University’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Team (such as a Grief counsellor) ✔️ Isn’t something which BCUSU have control over, as the team is managed by the University. This idea getting 930 votes would give our Officer Team a strong argument to give to the University for extra funding for this type of role
Requesting to rearrange their individual timetable This is a student’s individual academic issue, which would be handled by BCU's Student Support Centre. Our Advice Team could support if they’re struggling with handling the issue
Calling for more social spaces on campus ✔️ This is something that would require involvement from multiple areas across the University and funding. The University may require a high student backing (+930 votes) to invest in a project like this

    Adobe License for Graduates

    Current
    • Campus Facilities
    • Specialist Equipment and Spaces
    • Student Support
Creative and digital students often rely on the Adobe suite to work on projects and for their studies. But once graduating, they lose access to the software, which makes it difficult for graduates to continue building their portfolio, enhance their skills or become freelancers. Bcu alumni already get access to things such as Microsoft and Moodle 24 months after graduating, so why shouldn't we also have access to the Adobe Suite after graduation? Most alumni cannot afford a license right after graduating, especially when we haven't even been employed yet. If we could extend the license to also continue for 24 months after graduating, it would massively help us.
