Society Elections

All of our societies are run by a democratically elected committee of students.

Elections take place during March and April and are managed by the Activities and Representation Team who will guide you through the process. the information on this page is intended to help you understand what the roles you can nominate yourself for are and the commitment required for each of them.

You can also see a copy of the latest Election Rules and understand the complaints procedure if you have any concerns you wish to flag.

Committee Roles

Every society will have a different combination of committee roles depending on their needs, however they must have at least the 'core' roles of:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Participation and Inclusion Officer

These roles will need to be elected within a fixed period of time, and until they are filled the group will not be able to add additional roles via a by-election.

Deatils of what each committee role entails are available in the committee training document linked below.
