The BCUSU Superstars scheme is an accreditation programme designed to help recognise affiliated student groups who provide a great experience for their members.

It rewards you for completing goals that benefit your members and the wider BCU community. Our scheme helps you benchmark your progress, ensure that you are offering the best possible experience for your members, boost your reputation and gain access to a number of group perks!

To get rewards you just need to keep track of the tasks you’ve completed and submit evidence via a simple form - but remember, you cannot skip a stage. You have to start with Bronze and work through Silver to Gold!

There are three tiers you can achieve:

🥉 Bronze - Brilliant Basics

success check Access to book University spaces

success check Access to request up to £100 in additional funding

success check Bronze pin and certificate for all committee members at the end of the year

Tasks to complete

  • All core committee members to have completed Society Training
  • Have at least 10 paid members
  • Provide an up-to-date constitution, with yearly plan
  • Provide an inventory and/or plan for resources needed for the year
  • Provide an inclusivity and accessibility statement
  • Provide a budget plan for the year
  • Have at least one committee member present at Society Council
  • Have an up-to-date website page

🥈 Silver - Skilful Society

success check Access to request up to £250 in additional funding

success check Silver pin and certificate for all committee members at the end of the year

Tasks to complete

  • Run at least one 'Give It A Go' session
  • Have at least 20 paid members
  • Evidence good communication with your members
  • Have at least one Committee member present at two Society Councils
  • Collaborate with another society on an event, campaign or social
  • Fundraise at least £50 for your society or a registered charity
  • Attend a promotional event at City Centre campus
  • Attend a promotional event at City South campus
  • Run at least one society event on another campus
  • Participate in a university or community outreach event (BCU open day, Family Day etc)
  • Run a Wellbeing event
  • Run, or participate in, an event linked to an awareness month/day or a cultural holiday

🥇 Gold - Going for Greatness

Tasks to complete

  • Have at least 40 paid members
  • Have at least 50% of your members vote in the BCUSU Officer Elections
  • Collaborate on an event with a society at another university
  • Have at least one committee member attend Student Members' Meeting
  • Have at least one committee member present at all four Society Councils
  • Fundraise at least £100 for your society or a registered charity
  • Volunteer as a society in the local community
  • Run at least two events at another campus
  • Nominate your society, or a member, for a Roary Award
  • Provide content to BCUSU Marketing for society promotion materials
  • Put at least ten events on the BCUSU What’s On page across the year
  • Demonstrate consistent communication with your members across the year

How to submit your tasks and process

A member of the committee should complete the form, selecting the goal you want to upload evidence for - you can only do one goal at a time.
This automatically marks that goal on the tracker as pending until a member of the Activities and Representation team evaluates it.

From there, you'll be given one of the following outcomes:
✅ - Goal Complete
❌ - Goal incomplete
