Your Voice, Your Power!

Pledge Wall

This wall is your space to pledge what changes you want to make to your university journey, the change you pledge to make could be environmental i.e. to recycle more, cycle to university?? For second year and third year students you could pledge to pay it forward by offering support to the new first year students with the practicalities of starting university by offering advice, practical tips, etc. To become more socially aware within the local community. The pledges can be anything that is personal to you. If you need any advice or help with your pledge please email Lisa.dugmore2@bcu.ac.uk

One pledge will then be selected to win pledge of the week and BCUSU will provide practical support and £100 towards supporting the student to make their pledge a reality. Leave your first name on your pledge and email Lisa.dugmore2@bcu.ac.uk with your name and pledge details to be considered for pledge of the week.

Make an environmental pledge to be more green!

Could you cut down on the amount of meat you eat or become vegan? Reduce the amount of clothes you buy or commit to walking or cycling to University? Every small change makes a difference.

Write an environmental pledge on the wall and commit to reducing your environmental footprint!

Leave your first name on your pledge and email Lisa.dugmore2@bcu.ac.uk with your name and pledge details to be entered into a prize draw for one of three Ethical Superstore vouchers.

Become a Course Rep

  • What do Course Reps do?
    • A Course Rep is a course representative for each year group on a programme of study.
    • This is a voluntary role so there can be more than one Course Rep in each year group.
    • Course Reps collect feedback from other students on their course.
    • Course Reps bring the feedback to the Student Feedback Forum which they facilitate each term.
    • Course Reps meet with the Course Leader to resolve any issues arising from the Feedback Forum.
    • Course Reps give their feedback to their School Rep who feeds it back to the Students Union.
  • What skills and experience will I gain?
    • Build relationships with the Course Leader and senior members of staff from your school.
    • Learn to solve problems as part of a team.
    • Develop leadership and negotiation skills.
    • Use your experience as part of your Graduate Plus Award.
    • Get more involved in BCUSU's Student Voice Team.
  • Once you've applied...
    • You will receive a welcome email with information about the compulsory training and your training pack from BCUSU.
    • You will also receive a branded t-shirt once you have completed your training.
    • The training will enable you to have a better idea on how to make changes that benefit your programme and the students on it.
    • Throughout the year there will be training and development opportunities which will help develop your employability skills.
    • There will be opportunities to meet other students reps from across Birmingham to share knowledge, experiences and attend workshops.
