Our Table Tennis club is back as a BUCS team after a few years. Last time we entered a team was in 2014/2015 season, but due to the increased opportunities to get involved in the sport and the number of students showing some interest, the need to have a Table Tennis team was apparent! We are running a men’s team in the BUCS League with opportunities for women to take part too as part of the BUSS Individuals Championships. So please get involved and join us!
Our membership is now sold through the BCU Online Store. The membership is a total of £100 (£100 Target Sports Card and free Table Tennis Club Fee).
This membership fee is paid in instalments throughout the year. The Target Sports Card payment of £100 is split into two instalments.
The first instalment for Table Tennis is therefore broken down as follows: £65 membership + £0 club fee = £65
Please pay for your first instalment through this link: store.bcu.ac.uk/product-catalogue/bucs-target-sport/bcu-table-tennis-team-first-installment/bcu-table-tennis-team-first-instalment
From September to December, training will be based in City North Campus Attwood gym on Mondays 6-8pm. Matches will be played at Doug Ellis Sports Centre on Wednesday afternoons. From January onwards, the club will be based at the new sports hall in City South Campus with the same training times and matches on Wednesdays.
For the Table Tennis club to develop and grow, we have managed to get Helen Lower as the club’s coach. Helen is a Level 4 table tennis coach, a career she has developed after being a player herself (she represented England more than 100 times, winning 17 national Table Tennis titles!). Helen also competed at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and Melbourne in 2006, as well as the European Championships in Eindhoven in 1998, where her team scooped a bronze medal.
