Lauren Redfern, BCU Media Production student and former Scratch Radio presenter lands slot at BBC Radio 1...

It was announced this week that Lauren will take the helm of the Radio 1 Early Breakfast slot on each Friday morning through June.

After impressing BBC bosses as a co-host alongside Vicky Hawkesworth, Lauren said:

“It feels so surreal to be joining the BBC Radio 1 team! It’s an amazing opportunity, having come straight from student and community radio - and still finishing my final year at BCU - it’s an absolute dream come true.”

Last year, Lauren won the Demo Factor competition at the National Student Radio Conference in Leeds and was offered the chance to present show on the newly launched BBC Radio 1 Anthems stream, even launching the show with Greg James on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

Listen to Lauren's first Early Breakfast show on Friday 6th June, from 5am, or listen again on BBC Sounds.
