I believe currently across the BCU campus', there are not enough prayer spaces available to students at BCU. In Mary Seacole campus, a campus I previously has lectures at, the 'room' is not even a room, but a thin balcony. Therefore this limits religious expression on campus. As of present, there is only one multi-faith prayer space per campus, which predominantly targeted to a specific religion, which can often be uncomfortable for students of other religions. This is not an attack towards this religion, however I just want to bring to light a different perspective and reality of some students at BCU. If students have 9am lectures and live far from campus or are fasting on that day they may want to pray on campus during their breaks. Some students might have breaks longer than an hour and may also desire to use that time to pray. I believe that having more designated prayer rooms in each campus, this will benefit many students of faith in the university to freely express their faith and enable BCU as a university to become more inclusive. Having more prayer rooms, means having more space for students of different faiths to pray, as different religions may desire to pray loudly or quietly, so this gives space to everyone to pray as they desire. These rooms should be designed to ensure all students have a comfortable experience in these rooms, holy books, a prayer board for prayer requests and pictures and posters with key scriptures to encourage students as they pray. These prayer rooms can also be used for group prayer and other religious practices in the evenings.
