Though She Be But Little, She Is Fierce - Book Launch and Live Q&A

Celebrate the remarkable life and career of Anita Bhalla - Chair of Birmingham City University - alongside invited guests and civic leaders.
Tuesday 17 March 2026 4pm - 6:30pm Symphony Hall, Birmingham

Anita’s memoir traces her journey from arriving in 1960s Birmingham as a young girl from Kenya, to becoming one of the first Asian presenters on British television, leading the creation of the BBC’s Asian Network, and shaping civic and cultural life across the West Midlands. Her story is one of courage, conviction and leadership.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from a leader whose work has transformed broadcasting, education and the arts, and whose story continues to inspire and a chance to network with influential persons from across Birmingham.

The evening will include:

  • A live Q&A with BBC News Presenter, Reeta Chakrabarti
  • Readings from the memoir
  • Live music performances
  • A book signing with Anita

All proceeds from the book will be used to support BCU’s Financial Assistance Fund for students.
