The council is organised by BCUSU staff and discussions could help shape how the University and Students' Union develop policy and react to EDI and welfare issues. Your feedback could help create equitable change.

What is discussed at Liberation Council?

  • The health, welfare, and wellbeing of students

  • International student's experience at BCU and available support

  • Environmental sustainability at BCU and BCUSU

  • Diversity and inclusion work from BCU and BCUSU - including projects, initiatives, and policies around protected characteristics, faith, and beliefs

  • Discuss updates to University and external policies that will impact the student body

  • Recieve updates from Liberation Societies - celebrating wins and troubleshooting barriers

  • Recieve updates from VP Welfare on their manifesto aims and EDI related projects

  • Engage in campaigns related to welfare, inclusion, and sustainable development. This includes campaigns on accommodation, finance and money management, LGBTQ+ issues, equality issues, international student experience, tackling racism and xenophobia, sexual health, sustainability campaigns, and ethical issues.
