The Roaries, your students' union awards

The Roaries celebrates the hard work and accomplishments of our students over the past academic year.

During the evening we'll celebrate the amazing work our Reps and Societies have done to amplify the voice of students and we'll highlight the contribution our societies and their members make to student life at BCU.

You can nominate an individual or group using the link above. Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 6th March 2026.

2026 Award Categories

Course Rep of the Year


This award celebrates a Course Rep from each Faculty who has shown dedication to ensuring the voices of their classmates are raised.

They'll have excelled at things like good communication with University and Students’ Union staff, and coordinating effectively with their Lead Rep.

Lead Rep of the Year


This award celebrates a Lead Rep from each Faculty who has demonstrated a strong commitment to resolving the issues facing students in their College.

They've forged robust working relationships with Students’ Union and University staff, and delivering quality feedback to improve academic experience at the University.

PGR Rep of the Year


This award will be given to a PGR Rep who has stood out and made a positive impact to students academic experience.

This could be by supporting the representation system, going above and beyond or efficiently delivering feedback both within their faculty and the DRC.
 

Rep Teamwork


This award celebrates two or more Rep's who have worked together to achieve something great. 

It could be a Lead Rep and Course Rep combo that really works, or it could be a couple of Rep's from different schools.

Rookie Rep of the Year


This is a chance to recognise someone who has taken on their role this academic year for the first time and really made an impact!.

Veteran Rep of the Year


This is a chance to recognise someone who has been a rep for over twelve months and has used their experience in the role to amplify student voice.

Society Member of the Year


This award is for a non-committee member who has excelled as part of a society this year.

Maybe they've gone above and beyond at a society meeting, or perhaps they're always bringing their best self to each session you hold?

Committee Member of the Year


This award is for a committee member who has excelled as part of a society this year.

Maybe they've gone above and beyond at a society meeting, or perhaps they're always bringing their best self to each session you hold?

Best New Society


This award recognises a new society which has either been formed, or resurrected within this academic year.

The committee will have worked to increase membership numbers, hold regular events and committed to building a solid grounding for future years.

Society Event of the Year


Have you been part of, or hosted, an event this year which really stood out?

This award will celebrate the best event held by a society - it could be something on campus, off campus or as part of a collab with another group.

Society of the Year


This is the big one!

Think big. Think groups who have absolutely smashed it this year and let us know the reasons why!
