What is the Students’ Union?

The Students’ Union is essentially the group of all students studying at Birmingham City University. It “…exists to act on our members’ voices and cultivate vibrant and united communities for better student life”

The aim of the Students’ Union is to create and promote the best possible experience for all Birmingham City University students by providing a wide range of services and facilities. Students from our partner institutions are also very welcome to use the facilities and services provided by the Union.

As a Birmingham City University student you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union, so you can have a say on how it should be run and take advantage of the Union's services adn facilities.

How is the Students’ Union run?

A group of Executive Officers (Exec) are elected by students each year.  They are responsible for the day to day running of the Union. Management and Staff are employed by the Union to assist with the work of the Exec.

The highest decision-making body is the Annual General Meeting to which all students are invited and it usually takes place around March each year.

Not for profit, just for students!

Birmingham City Students’ Union is a non-for-profit organisation – any profit made is reinvested to make your student life better.

Every pound you spend in the Union bars, shops, on merchandise, and student groups goes back to the Union to provide services and facilities and improve your student experience.

This includes the refurbishment of Level 2 of the Union Building at City North Campus, running the sports clubs and societies, organising campaigns to fight for your rights, running the media groups, holding events and parties and much more.

For every £1 you spend, 10p is invested back into services and facilities that will benefit YOU!
