Volunteering

"Volunteering isn't just a job or activity, in supporting others you help to support yourself," BCU student.
Anyone can volunteer through Birmingham City Students' Union and get involved in both internal and external projects as well as One Off Volunteering Projects. We have a range of Student Led Projects that have been created by passionate students who lead the projects from start to finish in conjunction with the Students' Union and Union Led Projects which are available for all to get involved with.
The Student Activities & Development department will support all volunteers and help you to find an opportunity that will really interest you. If you want to come and speak to us pop into The Student Activities Centre (open 10am to 3pm) on Level 2 of The Union Building at City North Campus or go to any Students' Union office on any campus for more information. If your mind is already made up then fill out and return the following application form to the SAC or any Students' Union with a form of ID to get started. Also read through our expectations of volunteers.
N.B. If you are an international student under your terms of conidtions of your visa you are not allowed to participate in any more than 20 hours of both paid or unpaid work. If you go over this limit you may be liable for a fine.

"Being a volunteer not only helps you add skills to your CV that can be used in a working environment but is also makes you feel that you are making a difference to the community around you. It gives you a new perspective on things and makes you a better person". Emma, BCU Student.
