The Dance Society welcomes dancers of all styles and abilities. The society offers weekly classes and performance opportunities in styles such as contemporary, jazz, commercial, hip-hop, lyrical, and many more! We also host and attend socials, compete in university dance competitions, and at the end of the academic year, we’ll have an awards night celebrating all the talented dancers – we’d love to have you as apart of our dance family!
Competition Members
We have 7 different competition teams with a maximum of 20 dancers. Our captains are looking for those who are able to commit to rehearsals and work hard each week to work towards potentially 2-3 university dance competitions in 2026.
We will be holding auditions for competition teams at the start of the year.
Your membership will cover all sessions for the academic year, competition entry, travel to and from competitions, and a society shirt (optional), however there may be small additional costs required such as costume fees.
Non-Competition Members
Recreational (REC) classes will be held twice a week, and each session will be different styles taught by our captains and guest teachers and these routines can be used for portfolio/your own progress and our showcases!
We will have 2 showcases – one at Christmas and one at the end of the academic year.
REC sessions are open to all and will be more relaxed as it’s not a competitive team but still challenging enough to keep you progressing as we strive for all members to feel confident and develop after every session!
We will also have a technique class once a week open to all (mandatory to comp members) for those who wish to improve and refine their skills and build on their strength, stamina and flexibility.
