PGR Representatives

PGR representatives play a crucial role in shaping the PGR student experience at Birmingham City University.

The Doctoral Research College works in partnership with BCUSU to strengthen PGR representation across the institution, however the meetings you attend and reports you submit differ slightly from UG/PGT roles. The detail of the role, its purpose and our expectations can be found in the PGR Representative Guide and Terms of Reference document.

Rep's are chosen through a course-specific election process, details of which are below. Following elections, one PGR Representative per faculty should be put forward as a Faculty-level PGR representative with additional responsibilities.

Both the course and faculty level roles are remunerated as below:

  • Course-level representitives will receive a bursary of £700 per annum (upon satisfactory completion of a year end report, submitted to FRDEC).

  • Faculty-level representatives will receive an additional £300 (upon satisfactory completion of a year end representative report to RETC).

Your current PGR student representatives who are essential contact points to share your ideas and voice your concerns, are listed on iCity.
