Q. Did lockdown make you itch to learn a new skill?
Q. Are you looking to get a little bit more crafty?
Then welcome to Crafty Bitches!
We know that uni can be stressful sometimes - and even more so with the uncertainty this year. Crafty Bitches are a relaxed, friendly society that meet once a week to learn some crafts and chill out.
We have, always have been and will always be a place where anyone can come, take a little time out of their week to do something therapeutic and fun with a bunch of great people. It’s a safe space to forget your worries and stresses and take some time to focus on doing something you will enjoy and by the end of each session you accomplish something new.
You learn new skills that are for your own enjoyment and may even find a new hobby. We do lots of varied crafts from knitting and crochet to origami and embroidery and much more.
We are always on the lookout for more crafts to try, so if you have anything you’ve been dying to try, let us know!
Previous projects have included Innocent Smoothie hats for the big knit, love hearts, decoupage, glitter jars, embroidery and fish in jars. A couple of years ago we did a campus-wide yarn bomb and are always looking for more fun projects to get stuck in with; big or small.
We have had regular socials, and this year we will find a safe way to have some fun events for everyone to get involved with!
>> We meet from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at The Hive, located on the ground floor of the Curzon building. We hope to see you there! <<
You can join the society at any time in the academic year, and all annual memberships will expire on 31st August.
Our aims for this year:
- To be involved with at least one charity project by the end of the year
- To hold socials if rules permit and to make sure that if we do, that our members are as safe as possible
- To give more time to listen to member feedback and suggestions and acting upon that
If you join our free Interest List, you will be added to our mailing list temporarily. By being on the Interest List mailing list you will hear about the events we are hosting during Give It A Go Month. Give It a Go Month runs from 12th September - 12th October and is the perfect time to try out our society! If you wish to take part in our society after this time, you will need to make sure you pay for your annual membership to our society.
