Attention ADM students! Are you ready to make your mark on campus and show off your creativity?
We’re offering you the chance to create a mural for an outdoor space at uni...
Go solo or apply as a group, and be part of transforming the space into a vibrant, eye-catching masterpiece. The space you'll be decorating is a line of hoardings, located opposite The Eagle & Ball pub, City Centre campus.
Here's the brief and everything you need to know:
Space and materials
You'll have a huge canvas to work with, choose between: 2m square; 3m square; 2x1m rectangle (horizontal); 2x1m rectangle (portrait). Artwork by Roots and Ginger Dan can already be found on the hoarding space.
All spray paint materials will be provided (by Concept Elevators, BCU partner)
Theme and colours
We want the wall to be all about Birmingham. Think about abstract elements that make up this city (could be an image, text, typography, a pattern or a nod to Brum's history).
Select a sub-theme for your mural (1st choice + 2nd choice) – options include buildings, people, patterns, spaces, culture, history, other / mixed. Colour palette is limited to 10 colours, with 4 core colours.
Design and painting
Solo or group design - you and your group will be responsible for painting the design. Consider this when selecting the size you would prefer. Please note names and emails of your group in the application form below.
Submissions for designs open 3rd May. Painting begins mid June.
Dates to paint will be available as drop-in sessions for when suits you, please provide your availability and which days work for you in your application.
We will be arranging a workshop to learn how to use spray paint cans, tips and tricks and how to transfer your design on to the wall, by professional graffiti artist – Ginger Dan. The workshop will 2-4pm on a Wednesday. Dates TBC.
