Freshers Fest 2023

This is the only official BCU Freshers clubbing events. Look out for the BCUSU stamp of approval, so you know it's legit. There are loads of promoters out there claiming to be BCU events, but if they haven’t got the stamp, then they’re not!

We want you to have the best Freshers experience with other students, avoid purchasing other tickets as you might be getting scammed or paying for tickets that aren't exclusively for Freshers.

No, you don’t have to book tickets for our Big Welcome Fair!

We’re open from 10am! We recommend planning a whole day visit as there'll be performances, food and good vibes, but you could pop-in for a couple of hours. The Fair finishes at 4pm so come before 3pm to enjoy in the Fair in full. You may need to queue at Millennium Point as we'll be managing footfall to avoid overcrowding.

Looking for someone to walk around the Big Welcome Fair with? Join our Speed Friending drop-ins at Curzon's ground floor lecture theatre (near BCU canteen). The sessions will be 10:30am-11:30am and 2:30pm-3:30pm, and we've got a drop-in at City South on Tuesday. Joining events before the Fair on Wednesday can give you the chance to meet people, see our What’s On page.

Good news! We’re putting on coaches to bring you to the City Centre site and back again. You can check the times on the Big Welcome Fair event page soon.

Walking from the City Centre train stations

It is easy to get to our Big Welcome Fair, no matter where in the city you are coming from. BCU's City Centre Campus is a short 10 minute walk from Birmingham Moor Street Station, and a 15-20 minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station. Follow the walking signs to Birmingham City University and Millennium Point (Curzon St, B4 7XG).

Bus Stops

Many bus services terminate within the city centre and most are within a 25 minute walk, many much closer. Moor Street Queensway and the Priory Queensway Interchanges are the closest to City Centre Campus. Bus number 14 stops on Cardigan Street, halfway between the Millennium Point and BCUSU Marquee on Gopsal Street (right where you need to be!).

Big Welcome

BCUSU’s Big Welcome is a series of events from the 11th September to give you the chance to meet other BCU students. We’re bringing you events – some free, some at a reduced cost – to celebrate the beginning of your uni life and give you opportunities to meet new people. We’ve got everything from kayaking, Birmingham bakes and more. You can find out more about our events on our What’s On page.

Our Big Welcome isn't just for first years, all BCU students can get involved!

Events

Some of our events have limited capacity, so you will need to book if you’re attending. This is not the case for all the events, so make sure to double check each event listing so you don't miss out.

We’ve worked hard with our external partners to bring you these events either free, or at a reduced cost. Your Students’ Union is making up the difference in cost to make sure you have the best experience for the lowest cost possible.

We will look at putting additional dates on where possible, especially if an event is super popular. Keep an eye on our social media for any announcements on additional tickets, or new events. Let us know if you want us to repeat an event too!

Freshers Fest tickets are BCUSU’s official nightclub tickets. These are purchased through a ticketing site called Fatsoma. This is the only place to buy official BCUSU Freshers Fest tickets. All other tickets for Big Welcome events are only available on the BCUSU website.
