Choose Your Sport

Are you getting the most out of your time at University? Do you have the experience that employers are looking for?

Birmingham City Students' Union is holding a week of Involvement Fayres giving you the chance to find out how to get the essential experience to improve your CV.

The week commencing on Mon 22nd February will see external Volunteer Organisations and our very own Union Student Groups promoting their opportunities for involvement.

"Did you know that 73% of employers would rather employ someone with voluntary experience than someone without?"

Volunteering has so many benefits to you both personally and professionally. It can give you the chance to try out a potential career, give you essential work experience, develop skills that equip you for life and work, give you the chance to support a cause you are passionate about and also give you that warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach!

There are so many volunteering opportunities out there some related directly to your courses and other general opportunities that anyone can benefit from. It doesn’t matter if you volunteer in an area that isn’t course related as you will still gain valuable skills and it will show employers you have extra drive and determination to make a real difference and improve yourself.

Union Student Groups are also a great way to give you that edge over other graduates as they show that you have other interests and have no problems meeting new people and getting involved.
