Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
Birmingham City Students' Union aims to provide students with safe places to relax and have fun. To help us do this, we have developed The Union’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
This document mandates the Union to focus on the following areas whilst operating its 4 bars;
• The promotion of responsible license trade management
• The Promotion of socially responsible drinking
• A commitment to caring for and protecting customers
• A commitment to reducing the potential for disorder in
public places arising from alcohol consumption
This is why you will no longer see ‘Happy Hour’ type promotions or Union entertainments advertised on the strength of cheap drinks; not because we don’t want you to have a good time, but because we want you to get home safely.
Instead, what you will see is quality entertainment without the prerequisite of drinking beyond your senses, great value bar products aimed at enhancing your social experience. Alcohol and drug awareness campaigns, and friendly Union Staff who will always be looking out for your wellbeing, even when you don’t realise it!
If you feel that the Students’ Union is not quite satisfying its responsibilities on this front, just ask to speak to a Bar Manager, drop in to see one of the Executive Officers, or pop a note into one of the red suggestion boxes found at every Union location or in electronic form on this website’s home page.
